Overview The Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish, Centropyge flavicauda, is also known as the Blue Fin Angelfish, the Whitetail Pygmy Angelfish, and the Royal Blue Pygmy Angelfish. These fish come from the Indo-West Pacific region. They have a dark blue body with a yellowish-white transparent tail. Pygmy Yellowtail Angelfish are omnivores and should be fed marine algae, angelfish food, and a variety of small meaty foods. They do best in an aquarium that is at least 55 gallons or more and has plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in. One male can be housed with multiple females. They are considered reef safe with caution because they have been known to nip at clam mantles and corals. Although these angelfish rarely grow more than 2” long, they can be aggressive and territorial, often hurting peaceful fish and other dwarf angels.
