Yellow apple snails are a type of large, freshwater snail, commonly known as golden apple snails, with a shell that can be yellow or brown. They have a distinct flat lid called an operculum that seals the shell when the snail withdraws. These snails are variable in color and banding and can grow to be quite large, with a shell diameter of 3 to 8 cm.
