Axolotl
Axolotls are aquatic salamanders known for retaining their larval features throughout their lives, a phenomenon called neoteny. They have a distinctive appearance with feathery external gills extending from behind their heads, four short legs, and a long, flat tail. Their coloration can vary, with wild axolotls typically being dark (brown, gray, or black) with spots, while leucistic (white or pink with black eyes) and albino (pale pink or golden with pink eyes) varieties are common in captivity.
